Description
Before the mansion... before the disaster... evil is born.
Something terrible is seeping into the once pristine
mountain air. The residents of Raccoon City go about their lives unaware of
the dark fate that surrounds them. Sent in to investigate a series of grisly
murders in the area, S.T.A.R.S. Bravo Team scrambles into action. On the way
to the scene, Bravo’s helicopter crashes. Although everyone survives, what
they discover next is a gruesome site. An overturned military transport
truck, riddled with corpses. Rookie member Rebecca Chambers is beginning to
wonder what she got herself into. Bravo Team is about to discover the evil
nightmare that is growing all around them.
Review
It has everything that made GameCube's Resident Evil remake
an awesome game...and more. Resident Evil Zero boasts graphics that equal
and sometimes surpass its predecessor, better voice acting, frightening
sounds & music, and essentially the same controls. The partner-zapping
system is very easy to get used to. In this game, you'll explore five
dramatically different areas as the odd couple made up of cute rookie cop
Rebecca & convict-on-the-run Billy, who, unlike the characters in the first
game, have noticeably different attributes (Billy can take more damage and
move heavy objects, while diminutive Rebecca can mix herbs & chemicals and
squeeze into tight places). The enemies you'll encounter are inexplicably
hideous & disgusting and sometimes just plain weird (at one point, you'll
fight a giant bat in an old cathedral...it feels like a modern-day
Castlevania)!
However, there are a few things that haven't improved. The
camera angles occasionally present a problem not as evident in the first
game. You may also be distracted in the cut scenes by the characters'
mouths, which aren't always in sync with the words they're saying.
The story, of course, is very good. You'll have to put a few
things together on your own to completely understand it, but it's very
interesting. I'd also like to mention that the ending sequence is very cute
(I found the first game's ending to be somewhat cold & unemotional, not to
mention short).
To sum things up, Resident Evil Zero is undoubtedly on par with Resident
Evil. If you liked Resident Evil, don't miss this one.
-------------
I bought a Gamecube for the Resident Evil titles and was
disappointed at the remake of the original from the Playstation. Then I
rented Resident Evil Zero and my faith was restored!!! The remake was hard
and worse for a newcomer to the genre like me, but Zero has 3 difficulty
settings! So I was actually able to have some fun! The puzzles are a bit
outdated I will say, but the feel and look kept my hands on the controller
for the whole night! I beat it and loved every last second of it!
For a new comer this is what its all about! (Play this one at night for an
added scare!)
